Fourth seed eases past Giron in straight sets

Continues strong form from Top 10 players

Alexander Zverev, the fourth seed at this year's Wimbledon Championships, made a strong statement in his opening match on Thursday with a 6-2, 6-1, 6-4 victory over American Marcos Giron.

Zverev, who has never advanced past the fourth round at Wimbledon, displayed a new level of confidence in his eighth appearance at the tournament. The German star controlled the match from the start, breaking Giron's serve three times in the opening set and twice in the second set.

Zverev's victory adds to a strong showing from the Top 10 players in the PIF ATP Rankings on Tuesday. Top-ranked Novak Djokovic, second-ranked Carlos Alcaraz, and third-ranked Rafael Nadal all advanced to the second round in straight sets.

Zverev will next face either RCB or Jurij Rodionov in the second round of Wimbledon. The 26-year-old will be looking to continue his strong form and make a deep run into the tournament this year.
