Hansi Flick Sacked as Germany Manager

Predecessor Leaves National Team After Nine Months

Four Wins from Four Qualifiers Not Enough to Save Job

Hansi Flick has been sacked as manager of the Germany national team, just nine months before the start of the home European Championship. The decision was made after a meeting of the German Football Association (DFB) on Tuesday, with Flick leaving the role with immediate effect.

Flick took over as Germany manager in September 2021, replacing Joachim Low after the team's disappointing performance at the European Championship. He won four of his first four qualifiers for the 2024 European Championship, but results have since tailed off, with Germany losing to Hungary and drawing with England and Italy in recent months.

The DFB has not yet named a replacement for Flick, but former Bayern Munich coach Niko Kovac and Borussia Dortmund coach Edin Terzic are among the favorites to take over.

Flick's sacking is a major blow to Germany's hopes of winning the European Championship on home soil next summer. The team has been in poor form since Flick took over, and the former Bayern Munich coach has been unable to turn things around.

It remains to be seen who will replace Flick as Germany manager, but the DFB will need to appoint a new coach quickly if they are to have any chance of success at the European Championship.
