How to Install ESXi 8.0 on Unsupported CPUs
Introduction
If you want to install ESXi 8.0 but have an unsupported CPU, it may not be possible to continue with the installation process. This is because ESXi 8.0 has stricter CPU requirements than previous versions. However, there is a workaround that you can use to bypass this restriction.
Steps to Install ESXi 8.0 on Unsupported CPUs
1. Power off the hardware. 2. Boot into the installation media again. 3. At the prompt, press "F2" to enter the boot options menu. 4. Add the following boot option:
allowLegacyCPUtrue
5. Press "Enter" to save the changes and boot into ESXi 8.0. Once you have booted into ESXi 8.0, you can continue with the installation process as normal.
Additional Notes
* The
allowLegacyCPUtrue
boot option is not supported by VMware and may cause stability issues. * If you encounter any problems after installing ESXi 8.0 with the
allowLegacyCPUtrue
boot option, you can try disabling it by booting into the BIOS and removing the option. * ESXi 8.0 is still in beta, so there may be some bugs or issues that are not yet resolved.
